Clogs and ginger beer

Yesterday I tasted a slice of heaven. I stepped back in time to Fortum and Mason’s Gallery restaurant.

We took advantage of their current £15 menu deal we made reservations for lunch.

What struck me was how places like this in London don’t exist –  in between formal high dining to canteen/diner style. The gold chandelier reminded me of the 1920’s and the in Vogue Boardwalk Empire.

Worried we would feel under dressed, we donned out mid length skirts and went with cable knit cardigans and floaty tops, trying to keep it smart but casual for our Saturday morning jaunt. However we saw everything  from formal to casual-  t-shirts, converses, stoles, flares and even clogs! So I wouldn’t worry too much about ironing your pussy bow shirt just leave the tracksuit at home.

Starting with the Smoked Salmon and Citrus Salad we coupled it with a ginger beer. Service was impecable and although we stepped outside the 15 menu deal with drinks we only spent £25 each.

For mains we tucked into a succulent piece of Sussex Red Beef  and creamy mash potato. I wish it could of lasted forever, the two were light as air and cooked to perfection, certainly better than our Wetherspoons Sunday roast deal! We found we ate slower than we would normally, do due to us gawking at the setting and sipping our Ginger beers.

Brimming with tourists and Liberty/Selfridges‘ shoppers  it was a great treat on a sunny Saturday morning away from the bustle of the food hall.

It’s an ideal place for bringing your mum/parents for visiting and with the £15 deal its a steal!

Other restaurants in the £15 deal:

The Fountain Restaurant- less formal than The Gallery- features Quail egg salad and English treacle tart, you can choose to sit at the bar or in a booth.

The Wine Bar offers a simple array of goats cheese and cured salmon.

For lofty heights head to the St James’ Restaurant where Wood Pigeon and shortbread are served.

The £15 deal is on until 13th March, for more information click me!
